Hamayail Ansari | MODA Magazine

Q: Tell us about yourself! How did you end up working with MODA Magazine and what are your fields of expertise?
A: The years of stacked Teen Vogue magazines still piled in my room might be a small insight into my fascination with the fashion world. Whether it’s obsessing over Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada or sketching designs, I’ve always wanted to write for a magazine and MODA was more than perfect! I love writing about my perspective on fashion trends and even more so l love the amazing people I get to work with. Since I was little I’d always plan my outfits for the entire week (with backups of course) and because of this, I’ve got an eye for putting a great look together!

Q: What excites you most about blogging for Greenway Station?
A: I’m so excited to expand my audience and have the amazing opportunity to work with some of my favorite brands!

Q: What are you studying at UW and how does it effect your view on celebrity style and high fashion trends?
A: I’m currently a sophomore at UW, but am undecided on a major to study. I’m leaning towards a Biology major, so it is a little unrelated to fashion. It’s great to work with MODA because it gives me a chance to work in something different than what I’m studying and gives me a chance to discuss styles with people from other fields!

Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: I think over the past few years my personal style has really evolved into something more consistent. I find myself constantly loving both vintage and classy looks and some of my fashion icons would undoubtedly be Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, as well as more modern icons like Taylor Swift, Blake Lively, and of course Emma Watson.

Q: Who are your favorite designers and why?
A: That’s a tough one, but if I had to narrow it down I would choose Alexander McQueen and Vera Wang. Both incorporate such a unique combination of elegant, classic and contemporary style. My favorite factor of each of them, however, is their bold statements and adventurous takes on current trends.

Q: What celebrities (or their stylists) have made the best fashion decisions recently?
A: I really admire Blake Lively for her recent takes on fashion trends. She is doing a great job of transitioning from the girl we knew from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to the teen in Gossip Girl and finally to a woman who now has her own family. Her transition in style was smooth and graceful, but she is maintaining the youthful character that she’s had since the beginning. I think that incorporation of taking fashion risks once in a while is key and Blake has really expressed herself through her wardrobe in very “lively” way.

Q: Of the ‘big four’ fashion capitals (New York, London, Milan and Paris) which has the fashion week that you want to attend most?
A: I wish I could go to them all! If I had to pick, though, I would say Paris! I think most fashionistas dream of going to Paris because of the epiphany of styles and I’m proud to say I’m one of them!
